Sick Leave
• All full-time, regular employees accrue two (2) hours of personal illness leave per pay period, for a total of six (6) days per year.
• Part-time employees will have their personal time allowances prorated based on the number of hours they ordinarily work per week.
• Sick hours may be used for an employee’s personal illness, well-care, and health appointments. Sick hours may also be used for illness, well-care, and health appointments for an employee’s immediate family members.
• Employees who are unable to report to work due to illness or injury should notify their managers as soon as possible on each day of absence.
• At any time, an employee’s manager or Human Resources representative may request a physician’s statement verifying an employee’s inability to perform his or her job. A physician’s statement may also be required as verification that an employee may safely return to work.
• Sick hours will be accrued to a maximum of 100 hours.
• Sick hours may be used before accrual during the year.
• If sick hours are exhausted, any available vacation or personal hours will be used in their place. Employees are not paid for unused sick hours upon termination of employment.
